Capital Project

What stages have been completed in the co-op project this year?

We’ve completed a Schematic Design Draft and feasibility studies.

Why was the capital project paused in April?

Projected costs became twice as high as our allocated budget, leading to the capital project being put on pause.

Structural issues, abatement work, code compliance issues, and truck loading problems have been discovered.

What's the current status of the 708 Broadway building?

We're taking a step back from this building to explore other possibilities. Meanwhile, the NoVo Foundation will conduct short-term renovations to allow public events and pop-ups while a long term renovation plan is being developed. Future of the Co-op

Will the Co-op ever open?
Despite what may seem like a setback, it is our goal to open a community-owned grocery store in Kingston that meets the needs of our community. We are determined to press forward, explore all of our options, and take steps to reach this goal together in order to fulfill our mission.

Are there any new community initiatives?

Yes! We're focusing on the South Pine Street Community Garden and planning to launch a low-cost market in Midtown.

How can I get involved or help with the co-op's initiatives?

Please reach out to us! We always appreciate additional hands, especially as we focus on community initiatives like the garden and the new market. We can be reached at our individual emails or you can send us a message at council@kingstonfoodcoop.com.

Can members get a reimbursement for their membership?

Members have always had the option to receive a full reimbursement for their membership. Given the current setbacks, we are reminding them of this option. For more information, email finance@kingstonfoodcoop.com.
